Freedom Moses was founded in 2014 in Tel Aviv by Sarah Gurt, a Paris-trained shoe designer who had previously worked for Chinese Laundry, Oscar de la Renta, and Thierry Mugler before trading fast-paced Manhattan for the relaxed, beachy energy of Tel Aviv. The name comes from a vision she had of Moses walking into the desert in colourful slides, leading people to freedom. Made from PCU, a vegan, recyclable alternative to plastic, and available in a rainbow of colours and prints, Freedom Moses turned the humble slide into a genuine style icon — worn everywhere from the beaches of Greece to city streets around the world, under the brand’s own motto: Just Chill.
